Even with SNAP’s assistance, it’s a struggle for many families to put food on the table in these tough economic times. “These imminent cuts to food stamps will literally take food right out of the mouths of poor children as well as their families, the elderly, the unemployed and the underemployed. Feeding South Florida is also bringing its Mobile Food Pantry to distribute food immediately following the town hall meeting. Congresswoman Wilson will be joined by representatives from Access Florida, South Florida Work Force, Feeding South Florida, Miami-Dade County, USDA, and Farm Share to talk about the cuts and resources available to affected individuals and families. The town hall meeting will be held at the Joseph Caleb Center located at 5400 NW 22 nd Avenue, Room 110, Miami, Florida 33142. SNAP is formerly known as the food stamp program. Wilson (FL-24) will hold a town hall meeting on Saturday, October 19, 2013, from 10:00am to 12 noon, to discuss the impact the November 1 st cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will have on South Floridians who depend on the program to feed their families. ![]()
